Listen LIVE At 7pm
Due to these exceptional times, we wanted to create a way of safely communicating and celebrating together with the wider LD community in Milton Keynes & beyond!
Camphill MK Internet Radio was the idea of our CEO Tim, who used to volunteer as Hospital Radio DJ before he worked in psychiatric care. This is when he first became interested in social care after doing the radio show for the children’s ward and the Psychiatric wards at Bootham Park Hospital, York.
With a passion for communication and music, he sourced most of the equipment and repurposed it from our Theatre and our monthly disco’s which are closed at the moment.
Tim made the cables and connectors himself and even learnt how to write an Alexa App so that our community houses could listen to the shows in their living rooms by just saying “Alexa, open radio” (it only works on our own devices though).
Tim & Co. have been creating themes for the shows and have done the 60s, 80s, 90s, Musical Theatre. Over Easter we had a lovely show playing poems and stories that our volunteer Joan had created from her living room as she is isolated from the community at the moment.
In time we would love to do something creative involving people who use services in MK with the facility which is fully licenced for broadcasting across the UK, but for now the idea is to support our residents and other across Milton Keynes to in touch with friends who used to go to MK Snap, MacIntyre, Thrift Farm and many others who be missing each other during the current restrictions.
